Cheap Holidays to New York

New York is arguably one of the most desired locations in the world. Attractions like the bustling Times Square, zooming yellow taxis and the tall skyscrapers that loom over the city, are great attention grabbers.

Whether you want to see Lady Liberty, stroll around Central Park or admire the view from the Empire State Building, New York is a magical city. The extravagance of the fashion houses on Fifth Avenue and the concrete canyons of Wall Street is astonishing.

There is a weird frisson of familiarity because Manhattan has featured in so many films and television series. Beyond the tourist trail of Times Square, the crowds thin out, the streets become more leafy, and it’s around Soho, Chelsea and Greenwich village where you’ll find cupcake cafes neighbour snazzy cocktail lounges and upscale boutiques boasting high price tags.

Things to do
In New York you can take in a Broadway show. On this vibrant, glitzy strip you’ll find musicals and plays which are guaranteed to entertain you.

Central Park is a wonderful place to explore. New Yorkers come here to jog, rollerblade, picnic or just stroll around this surprisingly large park.

The Statue of Liberty guards New York Harbour. This imposing icon acts as a reminder of freedom for the American people and was the first sight of America for millions of early immigrants bound for a new life in the west.

New York loves spectator sports, so why not catch a game whilst you’re there. Basketball is represented by the legendary Knicks, Baseball has the Mets and the Yankees and American Football, the mighty New York Giants.

Shopping
New York has long been a Mecca for eager shoppers. With prices consistently cheaper than the UK and an incredible variety of Shoppingopportunities, your credit cards might take some punishment. From the legendary department stores such as Macys, to wishful window-Shoppingat Tiffanys, New York is bursting with huge designer stores, tiny boutiques and bargains galore.

Retail therapy is a religion here and the chief cathedral to the cult is Fifth Avenue. For the ultimate in luxury though, it can only be Madison Avenue. It’s the millionaire’s row of deluxe boutiques, gift shops and hushed jewellers where the window-Shoppingusually comes with a fix of celebrity gazing on top.

Nightlife
When it comes to Nightlife, New York’s second to none. This is the birthplace of punk, disco and hip hop, after all. Sip Cosmopolitans in the swanky bars. Dance until dawn at the hottest clubs. Or take it easy and catch a show on Broadway. The choice is nothing short of overwhelming.

With everything from sweaty rock clubs to swish bar lounges, high octane nightclubs, great theatre and lots in between, New York’s after dark scene is so eclectic, it’s easy to spend the whole day deciding what to do at night.

Eating out
New York has over 20,000 eateries, so expect some serious scale scrutinizing when you get home. The variety of food available is nothing short of astounding. Cue everything from cheap roadside hotdog stands to classic American diners, swish oyster bars, bagel stuffed delis, smart bistros and ultra pricy Michelin star restaurants. The multi ethnic population also means you can let loose on a whole swathe of international cuisine. There are two hundred Chinese, Malaysian and Thai restaurants just in the China Town area of New York alone!

Whether it’s an American breakfast with pancakes and maple syrup, lunch in a pizza restaurant or dinner in a steak house, there will be something to suit your mood and bank balance.
